Richard David Ball, M.D., Ph.D.Dr. Ball received his B.S. and M.A. from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. He earned his Ph.D. and his M.D. at the University of Michigan, where he also completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is a frequent contributor to scientific journals, and a lecturer at national meetings. He spent five years at University of Michigan as a assistant professor prior to coming to Traverse City in 1986. James R. MacKenzie, M.D.Dr. MacKenzie, is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he received his B.S., and Wayne State University School of Medicine. He did his internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Community Hospital in Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan, followed by post-graduate training in orthotics, prosthetics and interventional pain management. Dr. MacKenzie has been with Neuromuscular & Rehabilitation Associates since 1989. A managing partner, he also treats patients in Charlevoix twice a week.[ BACK TO TOP ] |

Kimberly Augenstein, M.D.Dr. Augenstein earned her B.S., a secondary teaching certificate, and her M.D. from the University of Michigan, where she also did a combined residency in pediatrics and physical medicine and rehabilitation. She joined Neuromuscular & Rehabilitation Associates in 1998 as a pediatric specialist. Dr. Augenstein is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of PM&R, American Academy of cerebral palsy and developmental medicine. Julie A. Gronek, M.D.Dr. Gronek earned her B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and her M.D. from Michigan State University. A decorated former Air Force officer, she did her internship in internal medicine at Ohio’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center and her residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. She has additional experience in emergency medicine and teaching. Stephen J. Andriese, M.D.Dr. Andriese has a B.S. from Calvin College and while completing his M.D. at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, he also did graduate work in African studies. He completed his internship at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, residency training at University of Michigan, and has post graduate training in interventional pain management. James C. Frick, P.A.-C.James Frick joined Neuromuscular & Rehabilitation Associates in 2006, and is responsible for consultations in physical medicine and rehabilitation and inpatient rehabilitation at Munson Hospital. He earned his PA degree from Mercy College of Detroit and has served as program director for the PA program at Wayne State University, and where continues as a part-time assistant professor. He was a Fulbright Scholar who developed and taught a preventive medicine curriculum in Siberia, Russia.
